The Chosen

This made-for-TV series depicts the story of Jesus and has been see by over 400 million viewers worldwide.  Indeed the Chosen series depicts scenes from the life of Jesus “with creative license” that goes beyond the biblical text.  However, this technique leads the viewer to reflect more personally and in greater depth on exactly who this Jesus of Nazareth really was, and what His life and teachings mean for us today.  This group will review segments of the series and then discuss their own reactions to these events.

The Beatitudes

As Catholics, we traditionally look to the Ten Commandments as the foundation of our moral principles.  The commandments speak of specific actions that are morally sinful.  But in the Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount Jesus calls us to a much more profound conversion of hearts.

We commonly think of the Beatitudes as a single entity.  In fact, though, each of them has its own unique focus.  The over-all teaching of the Beatitudes becomes clear only as we explore each of them independently.
